The background
4 Rockstars. 10 Stories. 1 Road trip.
MTV ‘Angels of Rock’ was a one-of-its-kind musical journey of celebrating womanhood across India, in all its glory. A television show wherein four female rockstars – Akasa, Jasmine, Shalmali and Anusha, took up a road trip to meet inspiring women from different walks of life, who have beaten the odds, eventually transforming their own worlds through these incredible stories of empowerment and self-belief.
The product
Filmy posters
The old-fashioned, yet recognisable Indian movie-poster theme was the selected look-and-feel the artworks. These were fused into a graphically-painted pop art style, that added a modern-day overtone. The four ‘Angels of Rock’, ofcourse were the featured protagonists of these posters, each portraying different stopovers of their trip such as, the all-women Jaipur fire brigade, the Ahmedabad radio station manned solely by women, and the exclusively women-driven pink rickshaw service in Noida.
My contribution
From pictures to posters
Created a series of four dynamic artworks that aligned to the chosen theme. Posters that depicted the lead women in different aspects of this journey, through a visual style that was characterised by bold outlines, filled with a radiant colour palette. Each illustration well resonated with the show’s concept through its vibrant, youthful aesthetic appeal.
