The idea
Musing upon the contrast of dreaming yet being enclosed in reality, and how a few courage to nurture their uncommon zests inspite of the odds, I began to ponder on the character sketch of one such ‘wild child’. What would she be like, how would her appearance reflect her spirit? Would her endearing eyes scintillate with her dreams, would her messy, unkempt hair bring out her intrinsic freewill? How would her reality make her dream seem bleakly attainable? This very intrigue was reason enough for me to relate and therefore bring her out in my own way.
The story
Growing up in a small town, young Cara was everything that defined a ‘musical wild child’. An undying soul for music, unvoiced as yet. A whole lot of gypsy, untamed as yet. And a rebel heart, innocent as yet. A natural at it, music was her lifeblood. She found comfort in the countryside, content in its simplicity, however also confiding in city like dreams, to make it big. What was missing? Well, that spirit which wanted to break free.
The product
A teaser to her story made of short animated montages. Starting with her dream musical performance, where she is seen playing at a sold-out arena – a sea of attendees captivated by her mystique. This followed by a quick extreme close-up that transitions to her present-day being – strumming in the wilderness.
The beautiful reverse role play, starting first with her dream, and then showcasing her (down-to-earth) reality, is an attempt to make this more interesting and creative. These events have been connected using surreal, fluidic transitions to befit the concept.
